The art is a 1950s Christmas-card scene: a brindle French Bulldog with big upright bat ears sits proudly, chest out, on a half-unrolled sheet of red-and-cream striped wrapping paper, a strip of clear tape stuck to one ear and a curly green ribbon tangled around its front leg. Beside it are the paper roll, a closed pair of scissors and a few loose green bows.
