He was told it was an ugly sweater party. He brought a tee, a printed knit pattern and a straight face. This ugly Christmas shirt is for the guy who follows the dress code on a technicality, and his coworkers will respect the lawyering.
The art is a cluster of hand-knit fair-isle snowflakes, a little reindeer and two pine trees in visible knit stitches, in faded red, cream, sage and soft black, with loose yarn ends trailing off the edges. TECHNICALLY A SWEATER is lettered underneath in uneven hand-drawn capitals. It prints as soft screen-print ink on a lightweight tee, with no bulk at all, and it makes a good funny Christmas shirt for the gift swap.

- What does the shirt say?
- TECHNICALLY A SWEATER, in hand-drawn capitals under a cluster of knit snowflakes, a reindeer and pine trees.
- Is it knitted?
- No. The knit pattern is printed on a lightweight cotton tee, so you get the look without the heat of a real sweater.
- Why are there no dark colors?
- The lettering and outlines are soft black, which would disappear on dark fabric, so we only offer light and mid colors where every line reads.
- How do I wash this graphic tee?
- Inside out, cold water, gentle cycle. Skip bleach and fabric softener, then hang dry or tumble dry low. Never iron directly on the print.
