The story+
This Christmas tree mug is for everyone who has ever dragged home a tree that was twice the size of the living room. A worn-out guy in a red plaid flannel and a knit cap stands next to a huge fir whose top is bent sideways against a wooden ceiling beam, a limp tape measure dangling from his hand and a few crooked ornaments hanging over his head. The line says it all: IT LOOKED SMALLER AT THE FARM. It makes an easy Christmas morning coffee gift or stocking stuffer for the dad, the husband or the friend who insists on a real tree every year.
The print is red, sage green and cream: a tilted tree, a gold star lying on the floor, a little red tree stand tipped over on the rug and a tape measure that should have come along before the purchase. IT LOOKED SMALLER sits above the scene and AT THE FARM below it in bold red slab capitals, big enough to read across a kitchen table, on bright white glossy ceramic.
It matches our It Looked Smaller at the Farm tee, so the mug and the shirt make a set for the same tree-hauling hero. Fill it with coffee, cocoa or cider while the tree drops needles in the corner, and keep it for the desk the rest of the year. Anyone who has ever sawed two feet off the bottom of a tree will recognize the guy right away, and so will everyone watching him do it.
